Be Thou At Peace

A few years ago, I met LTC Jackie Escobar at a speaking engagement talking to retired senior veterans about women in combat arms. LTC Escobar, a Purple Heart recipient and USMA graduate, paved the way for me to serve in a combat arms role while deployed. I was awed by her wit, resilience, and humor - overwhelmed by the opportunity to share a space with her.

Last week, the world lost a wonderful leader, role model, and human. She was not only a personal role model for me; she was also responsible for some of the thought and literature that allowed women to serve in combat roles. In her honor, I ask you to read her writing and share with others.
