Be Thou At Peace

Posted by SGM Edward Battles on May 29, 2008:

Dear MSG Mallard,

Words can not express the feeling that is in my heart for you and your Family. I can remember the long talks that we had as Drill Sgt's on the trail at Ft Knox, KY and how proud you were of Torre getting ready to go to West Point. You did one hell of a job raising him from a boy to a man. The world needs more Fathers and Sons like you and Torre. I too lost someone I loved dearly in this war, my brother (SFC Battles) was also killed in Iraq by an IED. I cannot tell you how to deal with this pain, but I can remember a man that shared his faith with me on many occasions. I know you will make it through this time of pain and sorrow. We never know why the road turns, we can only pray that we will see our loved ones again. God does not make mistakes. God Bless you my friend.
