Be Thou At Peace

Posted by klg on April 1, 2009:

Three years Timmy, and for the first time I didn't wake up sick with loss on this day. You're gone, and I can finally understand that in a way that doesn't tear my heart to pieces. Three years, and so much has happened--birth and death and love and loss, a thousand prayers for peace.

I have to believe that you've been there through it all, dear friend. That those quiet waves of joy and reassurance have come from the tender touch of your big, goofy hands.

Three years, and somehow the world keeps turning, the sun shines on every new day, spring awakes again. And the people you love have found their way back to happiness.

Know that I carry you with me through everything, the good, the bad, the banal. But know, too, that your memory finally brings more joy than pain. I miss you more than I could ever have imagined, and I thank you for everything you brought to my life.

"She says, I'm okay. I'm alright/ though you have gone from my life/ You said that it would/ now everything should/ be alright."
