Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Billy Wilson on April 10, 2006:

When I got the call from Dustin Plumadore '02 saying that Tim was gone, my heart sank. I sat on the edge of the bed and cried on my wife's shoulder. She did not know Tim, but she joined me in the first of many cries that day. I have not spoken to Tim in a few years, but we were about to reconnect. At my wedding, only two weeks ago, Dustin was preparing to pass my contact info. back through the NY pipeline to Tim's parents. I regret that those connections were not made earlier.

I have the fondest memories of sharing a room with Tim during one of the toughest times of life; first semester plebe year. I could not have chosen a better roommate! Chris Walls '02 and I picked on Tim all the time, often mercilessly. However, he rarely let it faze him; he took it all in stride and just flashed that huge smile! You could not help but love the guy; we all seem to agree on that!

Many people have talked about Tim's selfless service, integrity, honor, etc. However, there was something else about Tim that I think was at the heart of all of those things; I am not sure, because I don?t think we ever directly addressed the subject, but I think the difference in Tim's life was FAITH. We were raised in different church backgrounds and Tim's Catholic upbringing would not have taught him to articulate it the same way that my Southern Baptist background taught me. In addition, we were in our first years away from home, deciding what our personal faith meant to us now that we were on our own. But through all of that, I can't help but believe that Tim had a faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

Tim was a great guy because he served a higher purpose, a purpose even higher than Duty, Honor, Country; I believe he served God. He will be missed.
