Be Thou At Peace
Posted by LAURA WILKINS on December 14, 2005:
I AM STILL HAVING A HARD TIME DEALING WITH THE DEATH OF SUCH A WONDERFUL MAN. I KNOW GOD HAS A PLAN, AND KEVIN WAS DUE FOR HEAVEN ON DEC. 8TH. BUT THE QUESTIONS IS...WHY? WHY NOW? WHY HIM? SINCE THE DEATH OF KEVIN, I AM REALIZING WHAT LESSONS HE HAS LEFT BEHIND. I KNOW HIS FAMILY, DANA, AND I (AS WELL) HAVE ALL LEARNED SO MUCH. KEVIN HAS TAGHT ME TO NOT TAKE ANYTHING FOR GRANTED AND TO BELIEVE IN FAITH. HE HAS SHOWN ME THAT I NEED MORE IN MY LIFE...GOD!
I HAVE KNOWN KEVIN FOR THE PAST 1 1/2 YEARS AND KNEW WHAT KIND OF MAN HE WAS. IT DOES NOT TAKE LONG TO GET TO KNOW HIM! KIND OF GOOFY, ALWAYS IN A GOOD MOOD, ALWAYS SMILING, POSITIVE, RELAXED, AND JUST AN ALL AROUND SUPERB PERSON. DANA AND KEVIN ARE MY & MY HUSBANDS BEST FRIENDS HERE IN GA. PART OF US HAS BEEN LOST WITH THE DEATH OF HIM. MY HUSBAND WORKED WITH KEVIN IN 1-39 AT FT STEWART AND BECAME GOOD PALS, ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY WERE REAR DETACHMENT TOGETHER. I MET KEVIN A FEW TIMES BEFORE MEETING DANA. OUR FIRST DOUBLE DATE WAS GOING OUT TO EAT MEXICAN FOOD. WE HAD A GREAT TIME. NEXT TIME WE HUNG OUT WAS SUPER BOWL WEEKEND AT THEIR HOUSE. THAT IS WHEN DANA AND I REALLY BECAME CLOSE AND AFTER THAT, WE WERE TOGETHER EVERY WEEKEND. FROM WATCHING MOVIES TO GOING OUT DOWNTOWN, WE ALWAYS HAD FUN. WE ALL JUST CLICKED. I SAW HOW MUCH IT HURT DANA FOR HIM TO LEAVE FOR IRAQ AND WE TRIED OUR BEST TO HELP HER GET THROUGH IT. AFTER ALL, HE WOULD RETURN SHORTLY. NOW, THINGS HAVE CHANGED. WE WILL MISS KEVIN. WE WILL HELP DANA GET THROUGH THIS HORRIBLE EVENT IN HER LIFE! SHE IS SO STRONG. BY LIVING OUT THEIR DREAMS TOGETHER, SHE WILL COPE WITH THIS.
WE PRAY FOR STRENGTH FOR HIS FAMILY AND DANA AND ALL HIS FRIENDS.
KEVIN-YOU ARE AWESOME AND WE WILL MISS YOU SO MUCH!
DANA-NO MATTER WHAT, I WILL BE HERE FOR YOU. GOD BROUGHT US TOGETHER FOR A REASON! WE LOVE YOU!!!
