Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Chuck Gorlinski on February 5, 2008:

My memories of Al seem to go back to 1946-47 in Shanghai and Nanking, China, where we were schoolmates. I don’t recall those details clearly but I remember well when he joined our Class at West Point and his subsequent activity as a “ham” in the Cadet Amateur Radio Station atop North Area. I would frequently visit him there and was continually in awe of his knowledge of the inner workings and hidden mechanisms of high power radio transmitters and receivers, an awe that prompted my decision to eventually go branch Signal Corps. Following departure from West Point I did not see Al again until the late 1990s when he and Marilyn joined our occasional ‘56 Class Luncheons in the San Francisco Bay area, where we renewed our friendship and reminisced about the good old days. Al, unknowingly, had a profound and long lasting impact on my career in the military. Thank you, Al. I will miss you, my friend.
