West Point, 1969

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Jim Reams on April 8, 2009:

Larry Saska was my roommate in F-3 for several months in the fall of our plebe year. He was a true blue Chicago native who lived and breathed baseball and West Point. Larry had a very tough time at West Point but never backed down or faltered in his struggles. His positive attitude and sense of humor in the face of great adversity defined his character. After he left West Point his dedication to the Army was demonstrated by the fact that he was eventually commissioned as a field artilleryman. His pride in having been a cadet, if for a very short time, was demonstrated by the fact that he joined the AOG as a former cadet and even kept his Register of Grads entry up-to-date. Later he followed his love of the national past time when he managed a baseball club. He eventually earned a law degree and was a practicing attorney. Larry was a good man who provides us all with an object lesson in perseverance and dedication. He left this earth much too early.
