Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Rob Beale on August 23, 2005:

I was not fortunate enough to have known Laura while at school, but I got to work with her and her unit here in Afghanistan. I flew her and her platoon around, doing various construction projects, and it was evident that she was a good leader and her soldiers respected her.

When my soldiers found out she was a West Point graduate, they tried to get her to do the one thing I refused to ever do again: the "Rocket." As convincing as my soldiers are, she stood strong and successfully managed to talk her way out of doing it.

She made a positive impact on our aviation detachment in eastern Afghanistan and all of my soldiers mourn her loss. It was definitely an honor and a privilege to have worked with her.

May God Bless the family and friends of Laura and may her spirit continue to live on long after her untimely passing.

Well Done, Be thou at Peace.
