Laura Margaret Walker

West Point, 2003

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Kate Mitchell on August 24, 2005:

It's taken me a couple of days to get this down--every memory I have of Laura is so sparkling with life I just couldn't get my mind around Laura being gone.

Laura is impossible to put into words, but the footprint she left is very tangible. Her pure, kind soul reached out to you every time she smiled. She was disarming in the way most people only ever read about. As the leader you wanted her on your team; as the led you wanted to be on hers. At school, it never mattered what chaos reigned around you: if you were with Laura, you were in the finest company. She effortlessly combined brilliance, beauty, and strength. I admired her deeply, and am proud to have known her.

My prayers and thoughts are with her family now. May God shelter you during this time.

Farewell, my sister in Arms. Well done.
