Laura, I'll never forget meeting you at Air Assault school in Fort Polk. As difficult as the school was and as hard as the black hats were on Cadets, you always had a smile on your face and that got the ten or so of us who made it all the way through. It was a great joy seeing your smile again in the Kandahar gym a few weeks ago. I don't know if you knew it or not, but I was having a horrible day and had just recieved some bad news about one of my soldiers. Seeing you and talking with you brightened that day and made me forget about my troubles. I looked forward to running into you again on Kandahar Air Field. I'll never forget what a great person you were and how you touched my life. Well done, be thou at peace. |
