Laura, the news of your passing was beyond comprehension. I will always cherish that you were my very first little friend, when we were just three and four. To honor and celebrate your life, I have our picture on my fridge, both of us so chubby-cheeked...sitting in the grass with our popsicles, laughing and carefree...what a sweet and humbling reminder of how precious life is. And now, as I look into that image, I know you are now back in that same place, so happy, with all your needs met, and none of the burdens of this ugly world. Thank you for your service, and for your unremitting desire to give one hundred percent in all you did. You were such an inspiration to all who knew you, both as a friend, and a fellow soldier. |
