Laura Margaret Walker

West Point, 2003

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by PFC Christopher Day on March 9, 2006:

1 LT Laura Walker was my platoon leader for my first 6 months with the unit. She was the highlight to everyone's day and had a habit of keeping smiles on everyone's faces. I was named her driver right before we deployed to Afghanistan which was something I took a great amount of honor in. I will never forget the only time I got in behind the wheel with her as my TC. I drove her about 200 meters from the barracks to the airfield in Salerno where she had to leave us to move onto bigger and better things.
As we get ready to redeploy, I begin to miss her even more, realizing that her sunshiney face will not be present at Ft. Lewis when we return. She was a natural born leader that was eager to participate in evey activity she could, learning what soldiers put up with on jobsites, leading PT, crosstraining with the EM platoon, etc. She seemed to be what I like to refer as dynasty or the future of the Engineers Leadership. She has and will continue to be missed by all who knew her.
