Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Rev. Scott M. Stevenson on November 2, 2006:

I lived next door to the wonderful Warner clan at Ft. McPherson. To let you know when that was, Jimmy and Jerry were at West Point and Valerie and I were classmates at Woodward Academy. What a wonderful daughter you have Valerie. But, No-I am not surprised. It's what I would expect from a Warner-Walker union. Remember our fathers served together in the "famous fighting fourth" in Viet-Nam under Gen. Walker.

As a pastor, let me encourage you to keep telling "Laura Stories" write them down, tell them out-LOUD to each other, write a book. Keep her memory alive until we see her face-to-face again.

To all the Warner's-Walker's and friends I want to say, "I am so very, very, very sorry that you have to hurt this way!!!!" The only consolation for me lies in the fact that the PAIN that you feel is a tribute to the love that you continue to love Laura with. The more you love-the more it hurts. If you don't love, it won't hurt. If it doesn't hurt you didn't love much. Since you loved her so-all so very much, it seems un-believably un-bear-able!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, Keep Loving. Your Love for Laura and each other will continue to grow as each year marches on. And then, we'll find we have even more love to love Laura and others with.

In 2 Corinthians, Paul says, "The disciples learned compassion THROUGH the things that they SUFFERED." I guess there's alot of compassion coming through Laura-So, even now she is helping us to take the next step that is different for each one of us. But, hey--This is Laura Walker we are talking about; so, why should that surprize us. I would expect nothing less. Duty, Honor, Country!

I Am Sincerely Yours, Your Brother, In the Clutches of the Cross,

Rev. Scott M. Stevenson
