Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Adam Harmon on December 10, 2007:

I met Adam both in class and in the Glee Club. I was a plebe when he was a firstie and the fact he treated me as an equal was enough to make him stick out amongst his peers. We studied Arabic together every other day before class and he would let me vent about the pains of being a plebe. He gave me his dress grey jacket the week before he graduated and I kept it hanging in my closet for four years looking forward to the day I would need Cadet Lieutenant stripes on my own and hoping I would someday fit into it (Adam worked out far more than I did). He was, in many ways, the first person who showed me what it meant to be a part of West Point and the Long Grey Line. Not by his words, but by his example. After he graduated and moved on into the Army, he never stopped mentoring me and showing me what it meant to be a leader and I appreciated that. I can't believe you're gone Adam. We sang the Alma Mater together so many times, I just never thought I'd say the words for you. Be Thou at Peace.
