Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Mike Fish on February 5, 2010:

Dan, I'm not gonna lie; I used to get so pissed at you because although we were peers, you clearly stood out as a more competent officer. You would correct me so many times on staff, and I hated it!!! But you were right. And then afterwards, you took the time to come by and check on me for "no hard feelings". You were very intellectual and always did the right thing even if it hurt peoples' feelings (like mine). I truly admired you, bro. You were very personable and selfless. Everyone who knew you loved you both professionally and personally. You also had the sound mind to leave work at a reasonable time to be with Starr while other officers stayed at the office and slaved. It was obvious where your priorities were. Although there were plenty of other guys who knew you better than I, it hurt pretty badly not only to lose a good buddy, but also an officer with TRUE CHARACTER that isn't easily found these days. Talking with your RTO, I know your men loved you too. I am truly honored to have known you. Until we meet again, brother... rest easy.
