Be Thou At Peace

Posted by RDCanaday on August 25, 2007:

To Lt. Jonathan Edds' family, We find ourselves experiencing the awkward weakness expressed by St. Paul, the great apostle, in Romans 8:26. For we do not know what we should pray (or say) as we ought. But the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with words that cannot be uttered. Our son, David, spent Jonathon's last two weeks here on planet earth shadowing him in anticipation of assuming command of red platoon in Bayonet Company. David recognized right away the kind of special person he was replacing. The platoon was in tip top shape. Jonathon was the sucessful applicant among many for his new assignment. David's commanders and soldiers made it clear that there was no better way he could prepare for assuming the platoon than to watch Jonathon closely and pattern after him. I hope this information will be of some comfort to you in these difficult days. Of more comfort, I'm sure, is the knowledge and assurance that Jonathon could subscribe to the chorus of a song, "All That Thrills My Soul is Jesus:" He is more than life to me.

Mr. and Mrs. Russell D. Canaday and Family
