Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Tom Simenic on November 13, 2007:

On learning of Matt’s death my wife and I were deeply saddened and wish to express our sympathy to the Ferrara family. May God bless your family and may He help you to find the peace that Matt now enjoys. From the book of Psalms: “For behold God is my helper: and the keeper of my soul. Turn back the evils upon my enemies; and cut them off in thy truth.” Edith Wharton wrote: “There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.” I think she may have had Matt in mind when she wrote this. We got to know Matt because he was our son Joe’s roommate at WP and became one of his best friends. Matt was someone who liked to do things just for the experience of having done it and he liked to take others along for the ride. He was never intimidated and I always got the sense that he got much joy out of watching others do things they might not otherwise do simply because he suggested that it might be fun. His sense of adventure is something we will always remember. He will truly be missed.
