Tom was a true friend and brilliant officer. From West Point, to OBC, to Kuwait, and then again when both our units were stationed on FOB Falcon, I was fortunate to be around him. Tom was a role model for Soldiers and Officers alike. I had Christmas dinner in the DFAC with Tom along with a few guys from my Platoon. As I walked with my men following dinner and our long conversations that night, I told them that "one day, that man is going to be a general." They all agreed and were in awe of his enthusiasm and wit. It was only a few weeks ago that I last ran into Tom on the FOB where he would tell me about the good life he was living as a sniper PL. He loved his life, his family, and Erika. I am saddened that I will not see more great things that this awesome officer would have done. I'll miss you, Tom. ...be thou at peace. |
