Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Steve Butka on May 9, 2007:

I was a plebe when I met Neale at USMA and though all of us new guys were slightly intimidated by him, we knew that he was a shining example of what it is to be a soldier and a member of the Corps.

I was separated shortly into the Spring semester, but I remember that Neale was always there to try and help the plebes make themselves better. We might not have appreciated it then, but I am positive that every single person in the F-Troops will always remember Neale for being the definition of meeting, and surpassing, the standards we were supposed to be striving to meet.

I vividly remember, as us plebes got better at delivering the laundry and doing our daily duties, Neale was always there to make sure we were doing it right-- even when most of the other upperclassmen were off doing other things.

I didn't get to know him well unfortunately, but I know that Neale lived the army values every single second of the day and I am positive that that dedication only intensified after he was commissioned as a lieutenant.

God bless you Neale, people like you motivate others to achieve their best. That's the best kind of leader the Army could ask for.

My condolences to the Neale family, and his friends.

Go F-Troop,
