Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Dave and Carol Peterson on April 28, 2008:

Our son, Nathan, was a Plebe during Tim's Firstie year. We first met Tim at the Sunday School Teacher's Retreat during AD weekend. We loved him right away, and he and our cadet became good friends. There is a picture in our cadet's room here at home of the two of them, taken Easter Sunday of that year, which we will always cherish.

Not long ago our son forwarded an email he had received from Tim, sharing some of his recent experiences in Iraq. His joy in the Lord was noticed, and spoken about, by those living in that area of the world, even though Tim never verbalized to them his love for Jesus. Of course we were not surprised - that smile was irresistible!

When our cadet passed along the news to us about Tim's death, we were heartbroken; heartbroken for Samantha, Abigail, and his family, heartbroken for our son, who lost such a godly friend and mentor, and, in some ways, heartbroken for ourselves, knowing that in a couple of years we may be in the same situation you find yourselves in now.

We know that God, who began a good work in Tim, has been faithful to complete that work and has now called him to his heavenly home, where he heard the words, "Well done, you good and faithful servant". You can hold your heads high and find comfort in the fact that Tim's legacy will continue on through the lives of many in the military.

With love in Christ,

Dave and Carol Peterson,
Parents of a 2009 Cadet
