Be Thou At Peace

Posted by LT TD Baskin, USN on April 26, 2009:

... Let Comrade Answer "Here".
What is Aggie Muster?
At tradition which began April 21, 1903 - On April 21st each year, on the anniversary of the Battle of San Jacinto, Aggies gather together, wherever they are, to commemorate fellow Aggies who have died during the year.
Why do I say all of this?
Those who know Tim's story know he attended Texas A&M University for a year before attending the US Military Academy. I was his Company Commander when he enrolled as a "fish" in the Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets. Tim, a true leader, caught my attention early on as having incredible potential and I frequently approached him while he was "on the wall" to try to rattle or get an inappropriate response to campusology. He rarely shook - he had the same resolve that I had and a great faith in our Lord and Saviour. He kept pace with the numerous company runs that we enjoyed and kept one of the sharpest "fish" uniforms I had seen through my four years in the Corps of Cadets. It was a pleasure to award him his Corps Brass at the end of the 1st semester of his "fish" year.
I congratulated Tim on his departure to the USMA and knew he would do great things.
I mourned his passing last year, but my closure was to humbly answer "Here" and hold a lit candle for Tim at the National Capital A&M Club Muster in Washington DC this past Tuesday, April 21, 2009.
Tim was a great man of God and made the world a better place. It is an honor to have known Tim.
