Michael Girdano and I were in the same company here in Afghanistan. He was attached as our route clearance PL and I am the battalion Mortar PL. I knew him for about a month before he was killed. He had a rough patrolling schedule and did a fine job. His platoon respected him greatly and is reeling from the loss of their leader.
