Be Thou At Peace

Posted by 2LT Tim Ashcraft on August 11, 2008:

As a teammate, classmate, and friend, Mike possesed the character that left a lasting impression in your heart. You could never get enough of his pressence, as his personality was one that people truly and genuinely admired.
As Plebe Parent Weekend approached, I remained dateless. But Mike, in his usual generous manner, arranged for a friend to go with me. He was always looking out for you. What a true friend.
The next summer followed with Camp Buckner - playing guitars and smoking cigars. The great memories go on and on.
This world will miss Mike, but I am comforted knowing that he is in a better place. After all, God would not take such wonderful people from us if He didn't have a need for them in Heaven. Mike served his purpose here on earth, and I can only imagine the ways he will continue to better this world.
Mike, you'd be proud to know that my girlfriend is a diehard Steelers fan, and I now have my own #7 jersey. I'll think of you each game, knowing that you have the best press box seat in the stadium.
My prayers are with you and your family, now and always.
