Be Thou At Peace

Posted by George and Denise Corbari '09 Parents on March 10, 2009:

Daniel was our daughter Tera's beast squad leader. He showed tremendous promise as a future leader even then. His leadership style was respected both by cadets and by the officers charged with training and instructing him. I was fortunate enough to be an instructor at USMA from 2004-2008. I had many contacts with Daniel. The first was on the Beast march back. Tera had been struggling quite a bit in the early going, Dan encouraged her and kept coming back to help her catch up. While others yelled demeaning insults at her, Dan encouraged and motivated- this was his style. I witnessed the whole thing as we stumbled along in the darkness and rain. Tera finished the road march with her company, due in large part because Daniel never gave up on her.

When Daniel became the Regimental Commander, I was responsible for leading his staff through the initial team building and establishment of Regimental goals... again, he showed great leadership, and it was evident very early on that 4th Regiment would excel and flourish under his leadership.

I am currently serving in Afghanistan. Tera graduates in a few months. She and her future husband will join me in 3BCT/10 Mtn next year.

Our prayers are with Dan's family. We were all deeply saddened by his loss. We were blessed to have known him, and I am especially grateful that he was able to influence my daughter and show her what right looks like.

May God bless and comfort his family...
