Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Paula and Chip Hubbard on June 16, 2014:

Jay,
Writing this is so very hard. When Matthew called from Jalalabad with the news, it was like the world had stopped and all the air had been sucked out of the room. We have loved you like our own for so many years, and your passing has left us devastated and heartbroken. From your cadet days to the shared days at Benning and beyond, there is hardly a happy or memorable event for our family that didn't include you. We always loved the phone and email banter with you on any number of important and not-so-important topics over the years, and especially appreciated the phone calls that always came to check in on us every time Matthew deployed. This deployment was going to be so much better since the two of you would be together. We are grateful for the times you shared over the last few weeks, and we are honored and thankful that Matthew could bring you home.

Amy, Suzy, Big Jay, Lizzie and all the Jones family, as profound as our grief is, it is nothing compared to yours. Nothing will ever be the same. Our continuing prayer for all of you is that with God's grace, the support of family and friends and the loving memories you have of Jay, one day you will find the strength to live the full and wonderful lives that Jay would want for each of you. Thank you for sharing him with our family.

With deep sympathy, abiding love and wonderful memories,
Paula and Chip Hubbard
