J Jones- I was looking at the photos on this page- the one with you deployed. I saw the original of that picture: you're sitting with Dan Strathman. I saw him a couple years ago at Bill Helmsing's wedding in Montana. Making those network connections now, I realize how strong a school friendships really were. If we were sitting in a room today, I'm sure we'd be drinking beers picking up wherever we left off. You'd be glad to know, but not surprised, I watched your ODA brothers from a distance as they unleashed havoc on Afghanistan. So much, that we are finally leaving that place. It may not be for good, but the drawdown is real. Your efforts, your struggles, your tireless work is not lost on me or forgotten. And the price you paid is no doubt a variable in the calculus to finally put an end on losing more lives to that place. We will always remember. -Adam |
