Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Elizabeth Schubert on September 14, 2009:

I met Tyler the end of Christmas break plebe year. we ended up stranded at Newark Airport trying to get back to school. As usual, I was a nervous wreck and Tyler calmed me down as we made our way back. I had no idea I was going to spend the better part of the next 3.5 years with him and I am so grateful that I did.

A week later I walked into math and there was Tyler. Tyler is the single reason I passed math that semester. He was so patient reteaching me everything (seriously - I am miserable at calculus). In between studying he would pluck at his guitar, he was such a gifted player.

At the end of the semester we found out we would both be in D1 - Go Ducks! Tyler helped me move all my belongings up the hill to Sherman - he was so selfless, always helping out and watching out for his friends - all of them. Another thing about Tyler that struck me right away was his faith - it was rock solid and wasn't afraid to tell you about it.

Throughout Buckner and the next 3 years we shared many experiences, laughs and jokes. He had the best stories about his Morocco adventures and never failed to cheer me up on a bad day. Tyler made the Ducks a better company; he touched us all with his laughter and smile.

Tyler was a gift and I feel so privileged that my life has been touched by him. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Tyler, well done, be thou at peace
