Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Chris Hostler on September 14, 2009:

Tyler,

From the first day of Beast through graduation, your attitude towards life inspired me. You always had a smile on your face and offered a helping hand to anyone in need. You truly impressed me with your devotion to your faith, your friends, your family, your country, and your subordinates. Cliche though it may be, you truly were the best of us.

When I heard the news of your death, I was speaking with Adam Harmon, and he said something that really resonated with me. He noted that he had gotten on facebook on Sept 11 only to read posts mourning your loss. People who didn't know you - and won't ever have the privilege of knowing you - were posting things about their morning coffee, going to beach, and everything else. Adam remarked that the world doesn't stop when something awful happens...but sometimes you feel like it should. I really feel like the world should stop for a moment in reflection of your life - too short, but so full of passion. At least for me, the world stopped for a while...

You were a gift to this world and to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing you. I can honestly say that I'm a better man for having known you. Your memory will never be forgotten - that I promise you. My thoughts and prayers go out to you, your family, and everyone else who grieves for your loss.

Well done brother, be thou at peace.
