Be Thou At Peace

Posted by 2LT Daniel McDaniel on September 16, 2009:

My prayers and thoughts are with Tyler's family during this difficult time. I've been trying to think of what to say since I learned about his death on the 12th. I'm still not sure what to write. Tyler you were one of the best people I've ever known.

I met Tyler in 2004 as a plebe being brought into a start-up club at West Point called the Model Arab League. That team and Tyler were an integral and important part of my life. Tyler brought fun and life to the team. Whether we won or not it was always a blast to be out with Tyler. He made the best of the worst situations. Through the wins and losses he was always there. I remember our first National MAL competition; Tyler decided to host a hookah party in his Watergate room. There in the center of the party was Tyler playing guitar, singing and making up for the fact that our team didn't have a chance at winning. Then the next morning he was clean cut and ready to debate. He earned a reputation at MAL for being a cunning and skilled debater along with being a fun-loving friend.

So, I guess what I want to say is thank you for being you, for your dedication, and sacrifice. The world is smaller and darker place without you. May the Lord protect you and lead you to eternal life. Well done my friend be thou at peace.
