Be Thou At Peace

Posted by MAJ Darin Thomson on September 16, 2009:

I just heard about Tyler's death. I am so deeply saddened by this news. I was his Tactical Officer at West Point during his 2d and 3d year there. If there is one thing that can be said about Tyler, it's that he truly cared for other people and especially those he was responsible for. I remember there was a time when he wanted to write emails in such a way that he always capitalized the 'y' in you and lower-cased the 'i' in I. So, a sentence like "I will see you later" would be written "i will see You later". He just wanted to de-emphasize himself and make the recipient more important. I finally convinced him to write the grammatically correct way in formal correspondance, but knowing Tyler, I'm sure he still did it his way in informal emails. I truly enjoyed serving with Tyler and will always remember his infectiously positive attitude.

Tyler was also a strong Christian man, and while I'm sad that I will not see him again on this earth, I know he is now in a place of immeasurable joy. I pray that God will give comfort and peace to the Parten family and to us who will miss Tyler.
