I never had the privilege of knowing Tyler, but I had the great privilege of serving in the same theater at the same time. I don't think I will ever forget arriving at work on 11 September 2009, proud to be an American in Afghanistan, and learning from a grief-struck '07 friend that a member of her class had given the last full measure of devotion the day prior. In the ten months I have been in country, I have never felt more committed to serving this nation than I was when I heard of Tyler's sacrifice. Words cannot express how proud I am of a man I never met but whom I consider a dear brother. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones. Lukas Berg '05 |
