Be Thou At Peace

Posted by David W. Moore on August 16, 2005:

I met Dale, also referred to by friends as Pinkie, at USMAPS at Stewart AFB. I'm from SC and he was from Colorada. We were raised worlds apart; but, when we became acquainted, we clicked and were really great friends. He named his oldest son after me. He had soft eyes and spoke with a soft, yet firm, voice and you were instantly mesmerized by Pinkie. As Doc said, he fell in love with Jessie so overwhelmingly that he gave up an almost certain sucessful career in the Army. So, he resigned to marry Jessie and his career took a radical turn. He went to Colorado School of Mines from where he graduated and started a career in Mining. He worked some years for Ingersoll Rand and became President of the Tool Division. He always yearned to be back in Colorado. So he left IR and went to Colorado and established himself in a mining equipment business. Tragedy struck and Dale lost his precious Jessie to breast cancer. He never recovered from that. The remainder of his life held some sad chapters; but he remained that soft spoken cool operator. Hopefully, he has been able to join up with Jessie.
