Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Michael Stover on January 27, 2008:

Mitch and I wrestled together at Turner Ashby. We were in the same graduating class and he was in many of my classes. He wasn’t at TA for very long but I tell stories about him often. The laughter he gave me will add more years to my life than the 2 years I spent with him.

Mitch’s ethic was nothing short of inspiring, both in the classroom and on the mat. He refused to settle for anything and did all he could to reach his goals. I remember fishing one of his regional medals out of the trash junior year. He threw it away because the only medal that mattered to him was the state gold. I was confused by it then, but I understand it now. He wouldn’t let anything get in the way of what he really wanted. He had more motivation, willpower and discipline than anyone I have ever met.

I will continue to love and remember Mitch by telling the stories about him that made me laugh and I am truly honored to have considered myself his friend.

To Mitch’s parents, Mike and Amanda, we loved Mitch and we love you too. There are many of us here back in Virginia that were lucky enough to know him and we are always here for you.

Deepest Sympathies,

Michael Stover, Proud Friend
