The saddest thing I have learned to do as a mom of a West Point cadet (class '12) is to read the heartbreaking news of another fallen hero. I always take the time to view their firstie portrait, look into their eyes and think about the self-less service given by someone I never knew...for me. Many people spend long lives living for themselves. This was a man who chose a different path, a difficult path, a self-less path who lived for others. Though his life was cut way too short, his life was lived well. What a tribute to him and to his family! Thank you. |
