Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Stephen G. Fine, SFC, USAR, RET on May 2, 2010:

Dear 1LT Corma,
Your service to this Country has been an example of the fortitude, bravery, dedication, and sacrifice that all Citizens and supporters of this Country revere. Be Thou at Rest; Job Well Done.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Corma,
Your son Sal, has paid the ultimate price for standing up to the oppressors of freedom, for protecting the values of our Country, and for serving at great personal risk for believing in these values. The pain of Sal's loss does not lessen until sufficient time has passed to soften the grief that you are feeling now. I thank you for your own sacrifice in giving up your son, that this Nation may live without the fear of being a target of its enemies.

Dear Sal,
I grieve for your loss as do your loved ones and colleagues. Getting to know you reminds me of the story of the "Little Prince", who was warned about the suffering and grief one obtains for knowing and caring about another when they are gone. Without any question, you have left your personal stamp of kindness, warmth, and love on everyone who has come to know you.

You are truly missed, but not forgotten; I am a better person for getting to meet and know you. You will live always in my memory.

With Deepest Respect for All You Have Given Us,

Stephen G. Fine
