Dear Mr and Mrs Runkle and Family, It was with great sadness that I learned of John's passing from my daughter, who is his West Point Classmate. I am sure that I met John since my daughter was in Company F-4. I cannot imagine the pain that this has caused you. You all are in my prayers and I hope that you find some measure of comfort in the fact that John was doing what he apparently loved.
