Be Thou At Peace

We were disheartened to hear the news of John's death from his '09 classmates. Our son, 1LT Daren Hidalgo '09 was also in Fourth Regiment and John's good friend. Daren was KIA in Afghanistan on February 20, 2011. We fully comprehend the enormous loss that the Runkle family has endured. There are not many words that will lessen the pain you are feeling. Our family takes comfort in the fact that Daren died pursuing his life's calling and passion when God spoke his name. Classmates tell us that John was a selfless combat leader who truly cared about his men. He was pursuing his calling and sacrificed all for a grateful nation.
