Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Nick Eidemiller on August 28, 2011:

In addition to pursuing a West Point commission in the same company (H4), I had the unique experience of serving as Tim's Team Leader, during his initial year at the Academy. From our initial meeting, Tim displayed a noteworthy level of competence, mental agility and vibrant enthusiasm towards any and all posed challenges. He personified excellence on a daily basis and, before long, was chosen to represent his class on a coveted 'Brigade Staff' position during 'Plebe Parent Weekend.' I will never forget his smile, calm problem solving approach or eagerness to excel. As a spiritually fit and solvent person, Tim served as the bedrock subordinates and peers alike turned to in their time of need. He was, and will forever be, the true epitome of the finest our nation has to offer. Tim was destined to assail to the highest ranks of the military order but ended up making the ultimate sacrifice. I know for a fact that wherever Tim is, he is eternally happy. He is the type of individual who would not want us dwelling on our loss, but rather, the incredible times spent together and the memories that will last a lifetime. Tim, your sacrifices will never be forgotten. After having modeled my life around your virtue, I will never let myself or others take their American freedoms for granted. To the Steele Family, I share in the sadness of your loss and want to make myself available for any needed assistance.
