David Rylander

West Point, 2011

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by The Nilsen Family on May 9, 2012:

As one of my son's good friends from company E4, David is someone we met on many occasions and shared special times. Whether it was Sandhurst Competitions or Army Football games or 100th Night or the Graduation Banquet, David was always there with a smile and kind words to greet us. And, so it is especially difficult to express our sadness about David's loss. I can say without a doubt that recent graduates of West Point including the vast majority of the Class of 2011, including David, were inspired to attend USMA because of the events of 9-11. Their goal is not just to defend our country, but to add their own special something that will help make the world a better place. I know that David charged ahead bravely in life with an indomitable spirit to do good. We are immensely proud of his bravery and enormously grateful for his sacrifice. Our sincere condolences go out to his family.

David, as you sit in the palm of His Hands looking down on the world, may your life be a blessing that serves as an inspiration for others. Let it be an eternal light that shines forth all those great qualities that you possessed, so that others can be inspired to make the most of their life, just like you have.

It was an Honor to know you.
