Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Ginny Ann Pauley Greenwood on February 11, 2017:

John Livingood Pauley Jr. passed away July 1, 1988, in Munich Germany, where he lived with his wife Nina, in retirement.

He was highly decorated - among those decorations were the Silver Star, Bronze Star and French Legion of Honor.

He fought at the Battle of the Bulge and came in on an early wave at Normandy.

Before WW2, Col. Pauley served in the Panama Canal Zone and the Philipines.

After WW2, he was stationed in Leghorn (Livorno) Italy and served in Korea during the Korean War.

His last tour of duty before his retirement was as Commanding Officer of the Recreation Area - Berchtesgaden, Garmisch and Chiemsee in West Germany (from 1957-1960).

After WW2 he met and married my mother Nina Eugenie Drasche. They had two children - Ginny Ann Pauley Greenwood (1947) and Micheal Alexander Pauley (1952).

Above all...Col. Pauley was a loving husband and father. I miss him every day of my life.
