Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Charisse Watson on December 23, 2010:

My mother was a woman who loved God. I tried for a while to think of another phrase that fits, but none other fits so well. She lived through every day, every pain, every joy knowing that God is good and placing her trust in Him. If she was discouraged, she'd call us to read one of the Psalms aloud. Almost nine years later, I have yet to find one person who can remain as cheerful and trusting through their hard times as my mother remained.
My mom wasn't perfect. But she did all God required and more. She raised us to know Him, love Him, and fear Him. She taught us that strength and gentleness go hand-in-hand. She also showed us how to overcome our fears. She would always feel anxiety before a public presentation, so intense she became light-headed. But no one ever knew. Once she felt eyes on her, she'd flash her cheerleader smile and "up the perk factor."
My mother was one-of-a-kind. Beautiful, inside and out.
