Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Lewis Sorley ("Bob") on May 25, 2012:

Many classmates will remember the years when Hawley and Carol had quarters at Lusk Reservoir and we were always welcome there. I recall visits when with Hawley we would walk the dog, making a circuit of the reservoir. The little dog, entirely on his own, would jump up onto the wall that separated the path and the water and walk along it and, at each point where he encountered a light stanchion, make a little hop to get around it and continue on, always without falling. We were always amused by this, and by the things we'd talk about, most of them having to do with Hawley's love of West Point and his total commitment to the cadets he was serving with touching devotion. That same loyalty to family and friends endeared Hawley to us all. May he rest in peace.
