Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Bob Kirkpatrick on June 5, 2005:

So many memories of Doug have gone through my mind since I heard about his untimely passing. We were in the same squad for Beast, headed for different companies for plebe year, then somehow both of us ended up in I-3 for our final three years.

Doug was just a great guy to have around. Whether it was heading to Florida on Spring Break, or to one of the local colleges for a weekend getaway, Doug never did it with a half effort.

There are so many stories I could tell, but my words here can never really convey the impact Doug had on my life at West Point. He made it bearable for me, which was an incredible achievement. I probably would not have graduated if it had not been for him.

I was lucky to have had a friend like Doug.
