Be Thou At Peace

Posted by John Shultis on October 3, 2015:

Mos, my heart is saddened to just now have learned that you have gone up yonder, but it is also quickened by the thought that you are with our precious LORD! I was in the Gospel Choir with Mos, and he always encouraged me, always spoke a kind word, always seemed to be listening to the Spirit of GOD. My firstie year, Mos was in the semifinals of the Brigades, facing my classmate, Eric Billig. I didn't know Eric, but I knew Mos, and I was torn by the prospect of possibly having to face him in the finals. I remember not wanting to root against him, but also not wanting to have to face him in the ring. I know it's called the field of friendly strife, and I had to fight several friends over the years; but Mos was such a sweet, decent, kind man, that the idea of facing him in "combat" troubled me. GOD let me out of that predicament when Eric won the decision. A few days later, Mos was encouraging me in a far more important venue, as a member of the Gospel Choir singing praises to our Great King in the strife-filled city of Atlanta. Mos always knew where his heart stood: with the LORD Jesus Christ. His example was one of the things GOD used to draw this sinner closer to Him. Mos, thanks for your steadfast, kind, warm-hearted faithfulness; your smile was a welcome light in the darkness. I'll see you soon, my Brother. My prayer now is for your family, that the Good Shepherd will continue to comfort and guide them and keep watch over their souls.
