Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Nick Loglisci Jr on March 30, 2007:

Billy and I roomed together for 2 years at "Happy 2". Suffice today, we became quick friends and spent much of our free time together as well - Billy often coming to my home in CT for some R & R. In fact, he became such a mainstay at Casa de Loglisci, that he would sometimes show up to hang out even if I wasn't there. Didn't matter - my parents adored him and took him in like he was another one of their sons. My favorite story of Billy was while at Ranger School. I was 2 classes behind him. He was graduating the next day and I was only into my first week. He somehow found me and helped me sneak out of the barracks to a waiting pile of P&B sandwiches. Billy could have been tossed out that night for what he did. It amazes me to this day that risked his "Tab" on Graduation night to bring is hungry old roomate a few sandwiches. But that was Billy - he was a friend first.

Danny Cox '83 called me from Hawaii the day after Billy was killed (along with his beautiful sister) to tell me the sad news. I can still remember Danny's words - his voiced quivering. To this day it remains one of the worst days of my life. He died much too young.

But when I think about Billy I smile - because I remember what a good-hearted, good-natured person he was - and most importantly what a good friend he was to me and so many others. Miss you every day ole buddy...
