Be Thou At Peace
Posted by China and David Zmuida on November 3, 2025:
It is hard to express in words who dad was as a person. He was more than a hero, an adventurous man, and someone who could make you laugh without even trying. He was a loving husband and the best father any of us could ask for. He was gentle, kind, humble, soft spoken, and he never complained. He was extraordinary, never pretentious, and he never talked bad about anyone. He had a knack for teaching life lessons, where sometimes you would inevitably make mistakes. But his way of teaching allowed you to learn from those mistakes, because he assured us that life was always about gaining wisdom through hindsight. Dad was so many things, and it is hard describing everything he meant to us, because we cannot bring ourselves to speak of him in the past tense. We cannot mentally prepare for never hearing his voice, or awaiting those tender moments of allowing us to lean on him when we needed him the most. We are only provided with the comfort of knowing that his life was not only precious, but a gift to those who loved and knew him. We will miss dad dearly, and we will miss each and every moment that was given to us. But perhaps this was one of his final teachable moments - to prepare us for the inevitability of saying goodbye; if only in body, but never in spirit. We love you dad.
