COL Jouni Keravuori was my best mentor in the army. I served as his S2 when he commanded 2/6 INF Berlin Bde 1982-5. He guided my career profoundly and positively. Our families shared much. I followed his recommendation to teach at USMA 1985-89. In 1991 he rescued me from a 180 day TDY to return to 82d as G2 Plans when he was CofS. Later, as XVIII Corps dep CofS he continued to give me interesting assignments. How many know of his great Finnish legacy? His father was one of the Finnish Bn Cmdrs who defeated Russian regiments in the Russo Finnish war. Best officer I ever knew. America's faithful soldier. |
