| WHEN COLONEL RIENZI WAS TEACHING MILITARY PSYCHOLOGY AT WEST POINT DURING 1952-1956, THERE WAS A FEW TIMES I HAD TO GIVE A PRESENTATION DURING CLASS. ONE DAY HE KEPT ME IN CLASS AFTER DISMISSING THE OTHER CADETS AND SAID, "MR. SALAMONE YOU CAN GIVE EXCELLENT TALKS BUT WE HAVE TO WORK ON YOUR BROOKLYN ACCENT SO THAT EVERYONE IN CLASS INCLUDING ME CAN CLEARLY UNDERSTAND YOU". BY THE TIME I GRADUATED, HE STOPPED ME ONE DAY AND SAID, "MR SALAMONE, I GIVE UP". |
