Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Hal Heiberg on November 11, 2006:

Today is November 11, 2006. My father would have been 81 years old today, and I'm sure much wiser than he was at 65 - only because I'm older, and hopefully wiser. Through my own Life transitions over the past 16 years since he passed in 1990, I realize just how much wisdom he had to offer. While his priceless advice and counsel was too often taken for granted - as many sons are so apt to do with their dads - I can always reflect back and thank the Lord for giving me the years we did have together. I'll make the trip down from Denver today to the cemetery at the Air Force Academy where Dad is interred, to plant a flag by his marker and have a "chat" with him...
Whoever may read this at some point in time in the future, please take a long moment to consider your own relationships - past or present - with parents, spouses, or children - as priceless gems from whom you can continue to learn invaluable Life lessons. I am still blessed to have the Dad I do.
