Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Jonathan Anderson on July 7, 2011:

General Gannon,

I was a high school tennis player in Sierra Vista. I worked hard and became the #1 player on the team. My parents never once came to watch me play. But you were always there to watch me and encourage me. Although I never said anything to you (because I was intimidated by your being a general) I felt a great appreciation. I remember my father (Col, Arnold Anderson) once told me about how you were bragging about my tennis abilities at a Rotary meeting. That was the greatest feeling of my life at that time. My father was forced to be proud. Thank you for giving me that joy. My father looked at me differently after that one comment you made. Have fun where you are and know that Jon Anderson's life was made so much better because of you.
